Uncover your chances through well thought out choices
The great American poet Robert Frost gave the world a
beautiful poem to remember by – The Road not Taken. It ends, like this:-
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I –
I took the one less travelled by,
And that has made all the difference.
The fact that this poem is famous and was written as a joke
for a friend, another poet Edward Thomas is known to some. However, another
important fact about this poem is that when Robert Frost recited this to an
audience of college students, a lot of students were stirred deep within to
think about their choices.
Interestingly, it is a similar scenario even now for
everyone and especially a student. A student’s life is full of chances and
choices. A seemingly innocuous chance floats by the same class of students. The
one who can recognize the opportunity has a tale to tell while the others can
become audience. History is replete with simple everyday occurrences in a
student’s life like wishing someone making way for a brilliant opportunity.
Likewise the ever famous story of Newton’s apple is also a story of chance
falling literally on his head that turned to a choice of pursuing why it fell
and the world was bestowed with principles of gravity.
Chances turn to opportunities that can change life for the
better. This fact is applicable and appreciated by many. In spite of knowing
this inevitable truth, many people lose out on golden opportunities dressed up
as chances that pass by because of lack of awareness and knowledge of the
chance presented. Here is where, mentors come into the picture.
A mentor can see the unseen in a chance. A well wishing
mentor will know the inherent strengths and skills of a student to guide
her/him in the right direction to make the chance work for her/him. A mentor
can help the student understand if the path taken is worth the efforts or
she/he should take a road less travelled. At the same time, a mentor can become
a tormentor if not versed enough with the realities of the current time vis a
vis the student’s life goals, ambitions, family realities and aspirations. So,
mentoring is not a simple equation of cause of effect but a well balanced act
of instinct, stimuli, action and result. Naturally, this is not everyone’s cup
of tea as it involves passion towards the excellence of someone else.
At
Edmappers, we believe in this philosophy of being a
student’s friend for life to help her/him live to their full abilities. We make
it our business to ensure the student discovers her/his intrinsic skills
through a series of intuitive and cognitive interviews, workshops, discussions
and hand holding exercises that will ensure the student shines forth.
You might be currently floating in a sea of chances that can
turn to well thought out choices that will lead to great opportunities
eventually. We can help you uncover them!
